It will be a pleasant opportunity to feel the deep scent of Scandinavia, which has a different culture from ours. 37 SCANDINVIAN DESIGNER (2013) Meet 37 Scandinavian designers who led the golden age of Nordic design. NATIONAL ROMANTICISM IN SCANDINAVIAN ART (2014) Recalling National Romanticism. At the end of the 19th century, Scandinavia, despite different conditions, had one thing in common: the development of art. Moreover, the isolation of disabled art in 1880 ended the invasion of European realism and naturalism. Paintings of the working class, modern life customs, and outdoor landscapes were born. At the same time, young artists left their traditional training centres in northern Europe and headed mainly to France. The second change was that the international orientation of northern Europe in 1880 revived nationalism and isolationism, and forced them to return to their homelands. This book will inform the art history of national romanticism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These artists sought the identity of Scandinavian design and will serve as an opportunity for unknown readers to understand Scandinavia better. (WHO TAUGHT MAN BY THE PEN)”이며, 68장의 첫 문장은 “NUN, AND BY THE PEN”으로 읽힌다. ISLAMIC CALLIGRAPHY (2014) Understanding Islamic culture through calligraphy. Chapter 96 of the Koran, which God presented to his Muslims, is “Who taught man by the pen”, and the first sentence of Chapter 68 reads “Nun, and by the pen”. The pen is the first object created by God, and calligraphy written with a pen that connects God and Muslims is a tool that fears God, strengthens Muslim identity, and imparts beauty to non-Muslims. This book traces the art, history, development, and achievement of Islam through Islamic calligraphy, while also exploring the functions of modern calligraphy in Kuwait. To unknown readers, I hope that this book will be a stepping stone to understanding Islamic culture. I hope that it will be of some help in resolving the current religious conflict beyond just feeling the beauty of calligraphy. SYNCRETIC ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE IN JAVANESE ISLAM (2015) Understanding the history of Islamic inculturation through mixed ornaments in Java's mosque architecture. The history and culture of Islam were examined through four motifs (tumpal, kala-makara, lotus bud, and scroll) among various ornaments that appeared in temples and mosques in Indonesia where Hindu-Buddhist culture exists. Based on the study of architecture, art, design, history, anthropology, and archaeology, you will be able to study Javanese Islam. This is a complex of religious and cultural expressions. We hope that this book will serve as a stepping stone to understanding the symbolism of Hindu-Buddhism, which has developed into a distinct culture by mixing with Islamic aesthetics while maintaining the regional characteristics of Java, Indonesia. ISLAMIC ARCHITECTURE IN THE EAST AND WEST (2016) Meet the unexpected beauty of mystery and ambiguity in Islamic architecture. With a long culture of insight and aesthetics, Islamic architecture is found all over the world in cities, mosques, madrasas, mausoleums, caravanserais, forts, royal palaces and bazaars. Islamic architectural ornaments beautify the building with living and changing organisms. Characteristics do not stick to one category but permeate each other. Mystery, ambiguity, and caution come together to create unexpected beauty and joy. |
THE BIRTH OF THE VIKING AGE AND ITS ACHIEVEMENT (2017) Meet the most splendid "Viking Age" in Scandinavian history. The Viking Age (850-1050) was the golden age of Scandinavian sailing warriors who occupied vast areas of Europe. The pagan Norwegians, Danish and Swedes embarked on a series of voyages to trade, colonize, and loot Europe. The voyages spanned nearly 250 years and covered the British Isles, France, Italy, and Russia. While early monk historians documented the Vikings as belligerent, cunning, and cruel, Icelandic sagas emphasize the Vikings' generosity, uprightness, and training of famous warriors. Viking images differ from each other as these opposing features are emphasized, but one commonality is their bold determination. The Viking Age is therefore the greatest period in Scandinavian history. SCANDINAVIAN INDIGENOUS PEOPLE SAMI, SOCIETY, CULTURE, RELIGION (2017) Meet the Scandinavian Aboriginal Sami with their reindeer, yokes and shaman drums. The Sami are defined based on a mix of language and subjective criteria and are indigenous people constituting ethnic minorities living in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. It is hoped that this book dealing with the identity of Sami and the tangible and intangible traditional culture will be applied to the conflicts occurring around the world today and will serve as an opportunity to understand ethnic minorities, as well as serve as a helpful guide for the study of shamanism, the semiotics of drum and rock art, and symbolism. VEGETAL-FLORAL ORNAMENTATION IN MEDIEVAL MONASTERY CLOISTERS (2018) Symbols engraved with beauty on the head of a sculptured column from ancient times to the Middle Ages. Decorating architecture with natural objects, whether stylized historically or on one's own terms, has similarities to architectural history across regions, races, and religions. In ancient times, especially in the Middle Ages, plants and flowers were used as decorative elements in monasteries and cloisters. Their beauty embodies numerous symbols. We visit several monasteries and cloisters along the Camino Santiago pilgrimage, encountering examples of the origins and decline of colourful decorations. Decorations that transcend borders and history will be an opportunity for modern people to reflect on the meaning of faith and coexistence. RELIGIOUS SYMBOLISM OF MEDIEVAL BESTIARIES ON MONASTERY CLOISTER SCULPTURES (2019) Romanesque architectural sculpture capitals consist of biblical figures, heroes, animals, and flowers-plants in a hierarchy. The first is the biblical figure and the last is the Corinthian column head decorated with the plant acanthus. The study of animal sculpture not only reveals the symbolic world of the Middle Ages itself but also aids in understanding figures and plant sculptures. Wherever animal sculptures appear, they are almost always accompanied by figures or plants. Also, you will learn how the origins and characteristics of animals from ancient times were used in medieval Christian teaching through the manuscript. Both positive and negative animals are creatures of God's intentions and plans. BIBLE STORIES AND THEIR IMAGES ON ROMANESQUE SCULPTURAL CAPITALS OF MEDIEVAL MONASTERY CLOISTERS (2020) This book is the last of a series of medieval Romanesque cloisters built between the 10th and 13th centuries. It is about the characters and their surroundings in the Bible, God's sanctuary. It is authoritative for sculptural motifs that use elegant buildings as symbols or decorations. Divided into four tiers, the top is people, the second and the third are animals and plants respectively. The last is an acanthus motif. In the opposite direction, I started studying acanthus and plants. I approached the character’s writing from all angles. |
